We as Christians need to find our threshing floor. We need to seek God’s face, for the direction that he has predestined for us. In order to embrace our future and not be buried in our past. Look what it took for Ruth to enter into her threshing floor. She forgot her past, so that she could embrace her future. Ruth did not let anything deter her from her belief once she found out the truth. Ruth was firm about her decision on following her God and pursuing her destiny. Hear what the word of God says: “But Ruth replied, Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us?” When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she said nothing more. And we as Christians should not allow anyone to talk us out of our purpose, even if that person is our assignment. With Ruth’s determination and loyalty to God, she entered into her divine purpose. I admonish you to do likewise. For us as believers, we have to find our place of spiritual gleaning. Gleaning in those days of the Israelites was for the poor. So Ruth took the initiative to go out in the field and glean the grain. That’s what God is looking for us to do. To be a God chaser, chasing after the things of God. By gleaning our way into his very presence. And this is done by following prophetic instructions as Ruth did with Naomi. Ruth 3:1-4 “One day Naomi said to Ruth, My daughter, it’s time that I found a permanent home for you, so that you will be provided for. Boaz is a close relative of ours, and he’s been very kind by letting you gather with his young women. Tonight he will be winnowing barley at the threshing floor, now do as I tell you- take a bath and put on perfume and dress in your nicest clothes. Then go to the threshing floor, but don’t let Boaz see you until he has finished eating and drinking. Be sure to notice where he lies down; then go and uncover his feet and lie down there. He will tell you what to do.” To lie at the feet of the master was a custom and the law of the Israelites as well as to share a part of the masters covering. Boaz then became Ruth’s family redeemer. It was then that Boaz took Ruth into his home and she became his wife. The Lord then enabled her to become pregnant giving birth to a son, allowing Naomi to have a son once again. Just as Boaz showed his kindness by buying back land to guarantee Ruth and Naomi’s inheritance, so Christ showed his kindness by dying for us to guarantee our eternal life. That’s what God will do for us when we find our way to the threshing floor. When we find our way to the threshing floor, all of our needs will be provided for.
